Strategic path planning in this area should allow for multiple decision-making options and maintain consistent objectives.  I have seen many structured frameworks result in discouraging creativity, and consequently limit long-term benefits for both the learner and provider.  Careful multi-level scaffolding and expert design can produce the opposite effect, leaving scope for exponential possibilities and results.
